Greetings to the Sisters of Swing Phi Swing, Social Fellowship, Inc., Fellowmen of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc, and all web site viewers.
In 1969 a diverse group of collegiate women committed to improving the quality of organizational structure and sisterhood founded our beloved organization, Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc.®.
These twelve dynamic women dared to be different and defied the odds. Little did they know that thirty-eight years later their vision to start an organization, one committed to heightening black awareness, cultural consciousness and personal development, while embracing afro-centricity would be such a positive force in today’s society.
Yes, it’s hard to believe that on April 4th, 2007 SWING turned thirty-eight years old! We the Sisters of Swing Phi Swing have something to be proud of. As a result of our diligence and hard work the organization has witnessed continual growth and the vision is reflective in the work that our chapters do throughout our communities.
As the leadership prepares for what promises to be another productive year the organization will embrace the future and continue to support our programmatic initiatives, such as, the SWING Foundation, Inc. (the philanthropic arm of SWING), our National Step Team, Hannah House, Inc. (Washington, D. C. transitional housing program for homeless women and children) and our Mentoring Programs to name a few.
As we relish in thirty-eight years of excellence, I urge each Sister to make a conscious decision to remain in the forefront of the social ills which plaque our society. Let’s never forget, that the struggle continues…..
